Minister – Rev. Tom Cox
tomcoxTom joined us at OBC, along with his wife Ellie, in August 2017. Having completed his undergraduate studies at London School of Theology, Tom went on to train for Baptist Ministry at Regent’s Park College, Oxford, whilst serving as Minister-in-Training at Bewdley Baptist Church. Having called Tom to his first full-time pastorate here, he continues to work towards his full accreditation with the Baptist Union with the support of OBC, East Midlands Baptist Association (EMBA) and Regent’s Park College. Alongside his role here, Tom is also a hockey umpire, and spends many Saturdays travelling around the Midlands umpiring in the Midlands Premier and Division One leagues. As a Manchester United fan and newly initiated Leicester Tigers fan, Tom also enjoys watching football and rugby among many other sports. Tom is also a Trustee and Treasurer for the Mental Health awareness charity, ThinkTwice.
Leadership Team
Tom is supported in his role as minister of OBC by a leadership team of 9 deacons, who together oversee the pastoral care, spiritual life and strategic vision of the church. The deacons include our church secretary and church treasurer.
The church membership also serves in wider leadership roles, making up 10 Leadership Action Teams (LATs) that each oversee a specific area of church life. These include; Administration, Discipleship, Finance, Hospitality, Mission & Social Action, Pastoral, Performing Arts, Premises, Worship, and Youth & Children’s Work.
